2011 PSP Southampton Boat Show

 

The PSP Southampton Boat Show opens Friday 16 September, runs until 25 September.

The show is the leading outdoor boat show and features the largest temporary marina in Europe with 1,000 boats on display.

Thursday – update:

The PSP Southampton Boat show is playing host to the UK’s newest type of assault warship which came alongside this afternoon.

The Royal Navy’s HMS Bulwark is at the event and is open to the public for the next 3 days.

Wednesday

A solo sailor has received a royal seal of approval at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.

The Princess Royal has renamed Mike Golding’s 60ft yacht, Gamesa after the Spanish wind turbine company who are supporting him.

Intrepid news reporter Michael Buerk was at the Show today – this time not in any danger but in search of a pair of deck shoes and perhaps a new boat.

Visitors to the PSP Southampton Boat Show have joined in the celebrations as local sailors were named as the first members of Team GB for London 2012.

Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson were among the seven who will be leading Britain’s hopes for Gold at the Olympics.

A government minister has launched a new strategy for the maritime industry at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.

Business minister, Mark Prisk urged commercial and leisure marine companies across the UK to get together and share knowledge, experience and opportunities.

He’s pushing to grow the industry by eight billion pounds by 2020.
